There were felt pork wings fluttering deep in my belly when I read the email from Andre at Baconfest Chicago simply stating “Congratulations!!! We’ll be in touch soon”.
A blog article announcing the 5 finalists was just posted, and I did a little bacon dance as I read it.
The amateur competition is sponsored by Nueske’s, a Wisconsin based company that proudly offers an incredible selection of bacon and other applewood smoked meats.
My Recipe – Creole Bacon Poached Wings & Cool Blue Cheese Dip, When Pigs Can Fly
Looks like I will have some tough competetion, check out the other finalists…
Murphy Rynell – Bacon and Scallop Gyoza served with a Agave Ponzu dipping sauce
Tina Bennett – Bacon Strip Cookies
Andrea R. Abel – Buzzin’ Bacon Butternut Bee Soup
Mark Smrecek – The BLT Dog.
The guys who created Baconfest Chicago are true Baconaholics, check out their Manifesto about why they are trying to create new bacon memories!
Now if I could just figure out how to be a taste tester at Nueske’s, so I can try every batch of bacon they make….
Thanks for reading my blog and helping me prove that pigs really can fly.
Brad
