Exotic jerky is fine finger food…
Janie from the House of Jerky asked me to try her gourmet all natural jerky including the more exotic varieties…
I’m impressed that the House of Jerky makes their jerky to order fresh daily.
My jerky sampling arrived and each variety was in a vacuum packed in a resealable bag.
That’s handy, because a little bit of jerky goes a long way. What a treat!
First I tried the Black Pepper Turkey Jerky. Jerky made from turkey, who knew? It is less chewy than beef jerky and juicier with a nice bite from the smoky peppery seasoning.
The Teriyaki Turkey Jerky is sticky and sweet, with a yummy teriyaki flavor thats not overly salty. Both types of turkey jerky are juicy and chewy at the same time, the way a good jerky should be.
Now onto the Black Pepper Venison Jerky. Most definately the thickest and toughest of my sampling, but well worth the time it takes to chew a piece.
A smoky venison flavor shines through, with a hint of salt and ample peppering. Yum, it reminds me of he homemade elk jerky my Aunt Lynn used to make.
After a few sips of water to cleanse the palette and I sliced into some Black Pepper Buffalo Jerky…
It has the same wake up the taste buds bite as the other peppered types, and the lean beefy flavor characteristic of buffalo meat.
Now it is time for the “pieze de resisssstaunce” (in my best French accent)…
…Alligator Jerky! I am pleasantly surprised that this exotic jerky tastes a lot like lean smoked pork.
The alligator jerky is most definately my favorite of the sampling because it tastes like a mild mellow smoky bacon without any greasiness.
Janie also sent me many flavors of her beef jerky. I will blog more about them and announce details of the tasty treats House of Jerky Giveaway next week.
I also like that the House of Jerky offers a Jerky of the Month selection. That’s the gift that keeps on giving!
Thanks to Janie and the kind folks at the House of Jerky for sending me such fine finger food. I can’t wait to share your tasty treats with my readers!
Thank you for reading my blog and I hope you have a great weekend.
Brad
