It’s time for another Grillin’ Giveaway! The lucky winner will receive a 6 pack of Flavorwood BBQ Grilling Smoke cans.
I discovered Flavorwood a couple of years ago and use the BBQ Grilling Smoke cans a lot. The cans are much easier than wood chips which can be messy, require soaking for hours before use, and then burn up quickly.
These convenient and reusable cans release a steady stream of wood smoke that adds intense flavor to food cooked on the grill. Just take the labels off the can, place it on a hot grill for a few minutes, and your ready to smoke something tasty.
My first big grill out this year was a meal fit for a king, and enough to share with my queen…
…Hickory Smoked King Crab, Porterhouse Steak, Taters and Grilled Leek & Lemon Compound Butter with…
…Smoked Peaches & Almonds a la Mode.
I will be entering this compound butter recipe in the 5 Star Makeover at fivestarfoodie.com. Thanks Natasha for the chance to show off my recipe.
To prepare the Hickory Grilled Leek & Lemon Compound Butter you will need:
- 1 can Hickory Flavorwood BBQ Grilling Smoke
- 1 leek, green part removed, root left on, sliced in half lengthwise
- 1 inch thick slice from the center of a lemon, remaining lemon pieces wedged and reserved
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp Kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
- 1 pound room temperature salted butter or butter substitute
- 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Preheat the grill on high and place the Flavorwood BBQ Grilling Smoke can on the grill for 5 minutes.
Rub the halved leeks with the vegetable oil, salt and pepper and place them on the grill with the lemon slice. Grill for 5-7 minutes , rotating once. Flip and grill another 5 minutes until charred on the outside.
Remove the lemon and leek from the grill then refrigerate until completely cooled. Remove the root and any charred outer leaves from the leek and discard. Dice the grilled leek into small pieces.
Place the softened butter into a large mixing bowl. Add the diced grilled leek, juice from the grilled lemon slice, and olive oil. Beat with an electric hand mixer for a few minutes until well incorporated.
Pack into a crock or roll in plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready for use.
