Want to be the talk of the party?

For hundreds of years, Americans have chosen Champagne as their drink of choice for celebrations. Just as New Years Eve in New York City wouldn’t be authentic without the ball drop, sparkling wine masquerading as Champagne just isn’t the real thing.

Champagne, The Life of the Party

While there are many wonderful sparkling wines produced in the United States and around the world, only wine produced in Champagne, France can be called Champagne.

Picking Grapes for Champagne

Historically, Champagne has been the drink of celebrations on New Year’s Eve, known for its beautiful bubbles and shimmering composition.

Champagne Ready for a Holiday Toast

When the monk Dom Perignon first discovered bubbles he exclaimed “Come quickly brothers, I’m drinking stars.” Later, the Kings of France were crowned in Cathedral of Reims in Champagne where they drank Champagne to celebrate.

Who doesn’t want that same magical feeling of drinking the stars and feeling royal as you celebrate a fresh start and welcome a new year?

Enjoying Champagne for the Holidays

This year, the Champagne Bureau is offering tips to make your holiday party memorable…

  • Romantic Night: For those of you planning intimate special night, Champagne is the perfect way to ring in the New. Serve chocolate-covered strawberries with rosé, sec or demi sec Champagne.
  • Gourmet Feast: The ambitious ones will be celebrating New Years Eve by cooking a seven course meal – the smart ones will be just attending! Impress your guests or hosts by bringing a Vintage Champagne which will be sure to add class to any meal.
  • Club Goer: If you plan on hitting the dance floor all evening, make time for a glass of Champagne. Try a Blanc de Blanc, which pairs wonderfully with lighter foods you might find while out at a club.
  • Family Gathering: After a long night of celebrating, your guests are going to need something filling to keep the momentum going. Try serving a warm meal such as pasta or risotto, which will pair well with a non-vintage Champagne.
  • Sport Fan: Do you love celebrating the New Year with a football party? Then stay with the comfy clothes and simple foods, but make sure your beverage is still authentic – and New Year’s celebration ready. A brut Champagne pairs well with traditional party foods, such as chips and salsa and surprisingly even hot dogs!

Now that we have given you the bubbly scoop, you are sure to make this New Years the most memorable yet!
