House of Jerky Giveaway & Gatored Green Beans Recipe

Last week I blogged about sampling exotic jerky from the House of Jerky.

My favorite is the Alligator Jerky because it tastes like lean smoky bacon.

I have never cooked with gator meat before, so I could not pass up the opportunity to create a recipe with this savory delicacy.

Gatored Green Beans are quite simple to prepare.

Heat a fry pan with a little oil & butter then saute thin sliced portabellas until just browned.

Steam some fresh green beans for a few minutes, then add them into the fry pan with pressed garlic cloves and a little more butter…

Sprinkle in a generous amount of diced Alligator Jerky and serve immediately.

The smoky flavor of the gator meat is just scrumptious with the delicate beans and earthy mushrooms.

I ate them with a smoked beef short rib for lunch today, what a tasty treat!

Janie from the House of Jerky also sent me their many flavors of beef jerky to sample.

The Teriyaki Beef Jerky is quite good and most definately my favorite.  I was pleased with the light teriyaki flavor that’s not overly salty.

Hmm, Alligator, huh? I tried it once unexpectedly. I was at a catfish buffet and I tried some of these little round deep fried pieces. I thought it was fried oysters or something. The meat was bright orange and chewy. When we asked the waitress what it was she said Alligator. Yuck!

  5. Joan says:

This sounds like a great recipe. I love trying different kinds of jerky. Thanks for the giveaway. I once ate gator at the beach. It was a little chewy but tasty.

I make beef jerky myself but sometimes it’s so convenient to just get them from the store…my family are beef jerky lovers.
